Radon Reduction System in Middleville, MI
Challenge
Erin and Kyle tested high for radon gas in their newer purchased home. They had done some research and did not like the look of the exterior radon systems they had observed. They found ALS Property Associates, Inc. online and set up a free radon inspection. Upon inspection Doug found there wasn't a way to run to an exterior radon fan anyway and the radon system would have to be ran through to the garage attic. Upon inspection the sump pump pit was open and the utility area was along the garage interior wall.
Solution
Doug with ALS designed the radon system so it would tie into the drain tile under the concrete slab. The radon extraction point was in the utility area near the sump pump above the drain tile and properly sealed air tight. The schedule 40 PVC radon vent piping was ran through the rim joist to the garage and up to the attic. The radon reduction fan was installed in the garage attic and then vented through the roof. This made the system almost invisible from the exterior of the home and out of the elements. The sump pump covered with a radon cover and sealed with silicone. This seals the system so the radon reduction system is creating negative pressure in the drain tile along with under the slab and not the basement of the home. The radon gas then follows the path of least resistance and get sucked up and outside safely above the roof.
